Le Comité de la formation est en charge d’élaborer et de mettre en œuvre des formations dans les domaines de la pratique professionnelle de l’avocat, des règles de procédure et de fond du droit pénal international et des technologies de l’information à l’attention de tous les membres de l’ABCPI.

MYLÈNE DIMITRI
Présidente
Ms. Dimitri brings over two decades of experience to her role before international courts. Currently, she serves as the Lead Counsel for Alfred Yekatom in the Central African Republic II Situation at the International Criminal Court and has also worked as Associate Counsel for Mr. Jean-Pierre Bemba (Article 70). At the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR), Ms. Dimitri represented Dr. Augustin Ngirabatware, the Minister of Planning, as his Lead Counsel through both trial and appeal stages. Additionally, she was Co-Counsel for Arsène Shalom Ntahobali, the son of the Minister of Women’s Affairs, Pauline Nyiramasuhuko, in their trial and appeal proceedings. Ms. Dimitri has also navigated trials in absentia, notably co-representing Mustafa Badreddine’s rights and interests at the Special Tribunal for Lebanon until the proceedings were terminated. Subsequently, she transitioned to a Legal Consultant role for Mr. Hassan Habib Merhi. In Canada, she undertook a ground-breaking trial under universal jurisdiction, defending Désiré Munyaneza against charges related to the 1994 Rwandan Genocide before both the Quebec Superior Court and the Quebec Court of Appeal. Ms. Dimitri is also an esteemed speaker, having delivered numerous lectures and conferences on open-source investigations and the intricacies of defending suspects in wartime. She was also part of a group of experts invited by the Nuremberg Academy to debate on the length of the proceedings before the ICC. Additionally, she has conducted specialized training for Ukrainian lawyers, further showcasing her commitment to legal education and international human rights. She was also invited to provide a presentation on international criminal courts and tribunals to the appeals judges in Quebec, Canada during their annual training.
MÉLISSA BEAULIEU-LUSSIER
Mélissa Beaulieu Lussier has experience at the ICC for over 7 years and was called to the Québec Bar (Canada) in 2014. Since 2021, she has served on the Defence team of Mr Al Hassan Ag Abdoul Aziz (Mali) and recently joined the team of the Common Legal Representative of Victims in the Abd-Al-Rahman case (Sudan) in May 2025. She previously served on the Defence teams of Mr Bosco Ntaganda (DRC) and Mr Patrice-Edouard Ngaïssona (CAR). She has also practiced as a criminal defence attorney in Montreal (Canada) and supervised law students at the International Clinic for the Defence of Human Rights of UQAM (CIDDHU) as well as Master students at the University of Amsterdam. Mélissa has previously served on the ICCBA Executive Committee and Training Committee.
DIGNITÉ BWIZA
Dignité Bwiza Visser was nominated to serve on the Training Committee. Ms. Bwiza is a practising attorney at the Ituri Bar in the Democratic Republic of Congo since 2008 and at the Brussels Bar in Belgium* (List B of the French-speaking order). From 2015 to 2020, Bwiza served as an assistant to Counsel in the Defence teams at the International Criminal Court in cases against Bosco Ntaganda, Charles Blé Goudé, Bemba et al. (Article 70). Since 2020 to this day, Bwiza continued her active practice as a Legal Adviser under Rule 74, providing support to witnesses during interviews conducted by parties or during testimony before the ICC. She also participated as a trainer in ICCBA trainings. Ms. Bwiza actively engaged in advocacy initiatives aimed at improving the working conditions of Defence lawyers such as the provision of healthcare, paid sick leave, maternity leave, as well as the establishment of end-of-work notices, etc. Formerly the Africa Coordinator of the International Criminal Bar (BPI) and has lectured in international criminal law at the University of Tarragona (Spain). She is also the founder of Bwiza & Associates, a law firm specialised in environmental law. Bwiza has authored four books on the prosecution at both the national and international levels, of environmental crimes committed in the Democratic Republic of Congo by individuals, corporations, and/or states. I accepted the nomination to the Training Committee as I believe I can share my professional experience related to practice before the ICC to those who seek it, as well as contribute to the establishment of a platform that facilitates the sharing of experiences among members of the ICCBA. JAMES ONALAJA
James Onalaja est un avocat pénaliste anglais avec plus de 20 ans d'expérience, exerçant au 187 Chambers de Londres. Il a entrepris des études de troisième cycle en ICL à la Columbia Law School et a obtenu une maîtrise en droit en ICL (Cum Laude) de l'Université d'Amsterdam. Sa pratique se concentre sur : les crimes graves, complexes et violents, y compris les questions présentant des complexités en droit transnational et international ; les cours martiales militaires et ; cas impliquant des violations présumées des droits de l’homme. Il est inscrit sur les listes des conseils de la CPI et des Chambres spécialisées du Kosovo. En 2023/24, il a effectué une mission auprès du Bureau du conseil public pour la défense (OPCD) de la CPI, l’aidant dans ses tâches de représentation, de protection et de promotion des intérêts de la défense et des suspects non représentés. Ici, il a dirigé l’élaboration du programme de formation en plaidoyer de l’OPCD pour les jeunes avocats et la prestation des sessions de formation inaugurales. Il est tuteur en plaidoyer auprès d'avocats stagiaires en Angleterre et possède de l'expérience dans la fourniture de formations de développement professionnel continu aux professionnels du droit. Il assure l'observation des procès internationaux et fait rapport sur le respect du DIDH au nom d'EuroMed Droits. Il a assisté l'équipe de défense dans le dossier 004 devant les CETC. Il a également travaillé avec les membres du Comité des droits de l'homme des Nations Unies pour les préparer à leur 122e session et aux dialogues oraux périodiques avec les États sur le respect du Pacte international relatif aux droits civils et politiques. Il a récemment été nommé au poste de consultant juridique auprès de l'OPCD. James a siégé au Comité Amicus pendant trois mandats, dont celui de président. Il a siégé au Comité de formation en 2020-2021 et en 2024-2025, où il a participé à la formation d'avocats indonésiens et cambodgiens à Jakarta sur la plaidoirie devant la Cour pénale internationale. Il a également siégé deux mandats au Comité consultatif juridique, dont récemment celui de président. Il se réjouit de continuer à servir l'ICCBA partout où cela sera nécessaire.
AHMED ZUHAIR BAJALAN
Ahmed Zuhair Bajalan (Ahmed Wali), in the List of Assistants to Counsel before the ICC & ICCBA member since 2020. A lawyer since 2011. Was born in Baghdad. He is an Arabic and Kurdish speaker and English. Ahmed has been dedicated to addressing crimes against humanity and war crimes, etc., with a strong focus on those jointly committed by the Turkish army and its jihadist-backed groups, the hybrid ISIS and Al-Qaida groups such as , Al- Amshat, Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham HTS, Sultan Murad..etc, within the name of SNS Syrian National Army against Kurds in the Western Kurdistan, in the north and east Syria. Also working on the same cases of crimes committed in the Iraqi territory. Ahmed, as a local and international lawyer, spent all his life and energy working volunteer. In July 2025, when the same Jihadist groups started committing crimes against the Druze and Alawi community, started documenting some of these crimes and represented the victims of the Druze community in the area of Al-Swaydaa. Ahmed wishes with strong motivation, he seeks to support colleagues and to represent victims of October 7 with them in the near future.Aspiration for the future is to combat anti Semitism. Ahmed involved with NGOs that represented vulnerable victims before the courts. He worked on submitting his cases before the Special Rapporteur and Mandates of the OHCHR. Ahmed represented victims of the LGBTI. He represented victims of (GBV). He represented children, women, IDPs, representing all in the courts. Furthermore, works on other cases of family law, company registration, civil law..etc
